Fidler Exits Sony

San Diego – Longtime CE industry veteran Michael
Fidler has resigned from his role as Sony’s digital cinema services and
solutions division senior VP to pursue other interests, a Sony spokesperson
confirmed.

Fidler returned to Sony to take the
digital cinema services role in March 2008 after serving as CEO of cable TV
technologies resource Digeo, when that company was preparing to be sold.

In his last role
at Sony, Fidler, who had previously worked with various departments in Sony
Electronics consumer products operations, provided movie-theater exhibitors
with turnkey solutions offering a wide range of services including equipment
installation, maintenance and financing programs. He had also provided
necessary expertise to create alternative sources for entertainment content.

Following Fidler’s departure, Sony
has elected to merge his division into Sony’s digital cinema systems division,
under Gary Johns, the spokesman said.

No information was
available on Fidler’s future plans.
