Epson Intros Two Photo Viewers

Long Beach, Calif. — Epson introduced two new portable photo viewers today.

The P-3000 and P-5000 are hard disk-based units that use Epson’s Photo Fine Ultra four-color LCD technology to display 16.7 million colors and offer support for Adobe RGB color.

Both units feature a 4-inch, VGA-resolution LCD screen, broader support for RAW image files, faster processing speeds and longer battery life than their predecessors, according to Epson. In terms of processing times, Epson said the units offer a 250 percent performance improvement over previous models while the battery life has been upped to three hours for viewing still or video slideshows.

The units offer built-in memory card slots for Compact Flash Type I/II and SD cards, with adapters available for additional formats. The viewers can play back a variety of video file formats including MPEG4, Motion JPEG and DivX and support MP3 and AAC audio play back as well. They are bundled with Epson’s Link2 software for converting additional movie and music formats and creating music playlists for playback on the viewers.

The viewers are shipping now. The 40GB P-3000 will sell for a suggested $499 while the 80GB P-5,000 will retail for $699.
