New York – Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian will cut the ribbon on a “Room of Magic” entertainment theater for the benefit of children treated at the facility and their families due to the assistance of the Elf Foundation and several top CE manufacturers on Nov. 13.
Innerspace Electronics has teamed with Runco International, Denon, XM Radio, Crestron, Sonance, Lutron, Stewart Filmscreen, Panamax, and Liberty Wire & Cable on this project.
This Room of Magic entertainment space marks the 60th theater opening for the Elf Foundation, a non-profit organization based in California that works across North America to bring the magic of music and film to sick children in medical centers, shelters for abused kids, autism centers and hospices for terminally ill children.
Partnering with the Elf Foundation was Barry and Andrea Reiner of Innerspace Electronics. Based in Port Chester, New York, Innerspace acted as project manager and provided all of the design and installation on a pro bono basis, creating a state-of-the-art theater space that was part of a larger remodel that Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian has been working on for over three years.
“We were so honored to play a role in this project and work with the Elf Foundation and some of the companies who our firm represents,” said Barry Reiner, president of Innerspace Electronics. “The tedious nature of an extended stay in a children’s hospital is tough on kids and families, so we as a company undertook to give something back to our community in the form of an exciting theater suite, which is a part and parcel of what we do as a company day in and day out. I can’t say thank you enough to our business partners who made significant donations to help underwrite this Room of Magic entertainment space.”
Children will view movies and live events in surround sound thanks to electronics provided by Denon and a 5.1 speaker system donated by Sonance. During daylight hours, custom window shades generously provided by Lutron will work in conjunction with the Runco projection system and Stewart GrayHawk filmscreen to provide high definition video.
Behind the scenes, Liberty Wire & Cable have donated all interconnects and speaker wire needed to connect this system, and Panamax has underwritten the power management portion of the project to ensure the long-term safety aspects of the theater. When the space is not being used for video purposes, kids will be able to enjoy children’s programming thanks to XM Radio. And the Elf Foundation added that the entire theater is controlled via a wall-mounted touch panel from automation specialist, Crestron.
“Innerspace Electronics has really created something special for the kids at Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian and our foundation could not be prouder than to salute Barry and Andrea, as well as all of the companies and volunteers who have given so much for a lot of little reasons,” said Douglas Weinstein, president of the Elf Foundation. “When you stop and think about how easy it is to not get involved in charitable work, especially something complex like working inside of a hospital’s bureaucracy, it is even more amazing to realize the depth of commitment that went into seeing this project through to completion. Three years of work has paid off though, as the kids and families will have something very special to call their own.”
