D&M Holdings Sells Rest Of Its Pro Audio Businesses

Mahwah, N.J. – D&M Holdings sold off its Denon Professional, Marantz Professional and Denon DJ businesses to inMusic Brands, which owns multiple pro-audio brands.

D&M is licensing the rights to the D&M pro brands as “another step in our strategy to continue focusing on our core consumer brands,” said Jim Caudill, D&M Holdings CEO. He said he is confident that inMusic “will bring the required focus and investments to accelerate the growth of these well-respected brands.”

D&M sold its Allen & Heath pro-audio business last June, sold its Calrec pro business in March, and is considering the sale of its OEM car audio business as part of a strategy that Caudill previously said would enable D&M to “put more of our resources and organizational focus on building our core consumer business.” The OEM speaker and amplifier business, he said at the time, is “non-core to the consumer platform.”

Under the new strategy, D&M’s focus “will be on consumer” through its Denon, Marantz and Boston Acoustics consumer-audio brands, he previously said.

For his part, inMusic owner/CEO Jack O’Donnell said that with the addition of the three pro businesses, “we’re strengthening our base of DJ assets while extending our footprint in the professional market to the commercial installation and contractor segments.” The company is “excited about the products and technologies developed by these established brands” and plans to create “new, innovative products,” O’Donnell said.

inMusic’s existing brands include Akai Professional, Alesis, Alto Professional, ION Audio, Numark, M-Audio, AIR Music Technology and Mixmeister.
