Disney Adds Kids’ LCD TV Line

Glendale, Calif. —

Disney Consumer Products said it is adding this fall its first line of Disney LCD TVs, a Disney Flix video camera and iPod-compatible speakers.

Products will feature themes from some of the studio’s top franchises including “Disney Princess” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” and Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” and “Hannah Montana.”

New products due this fall include: the Disney Flix Video Cam ($99 suggested retail), which is billed as an easy-to-use handheld video camera that adds Disney Director software to enable users to shoot and star in their own video productions. The camera connects to a PC to use the software and film scenes.

The Cam includes High School Musical Disney Director software, but additional Disney Director software titles, including Cinderella and Pirates of the Caribbean ($14.99 each) can be purchased separately.

Resolution is listed at 1,024 by 768 and a VGA input is included for use as a PC monitor.

Design themes were inspired by Disney’s “High School Musical,” “Hannah Montana,” “Disney Princess” and “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

The High School Musical LCD TV is designed to resemble a bright red school locker and includes stickers that let tweens personalize the look.

The Hannah Montana model is purple and silver to appeal to tween girls. The Disney Princess style is patterned after a royal carriage, with sleek lines and creamy pinks with fuchsia accents.

The Pirates of the Caribbean model has a base resembling a ship and is topped with a skull and crossbones and pirate flag.

The Disney LCD TV will be carried by Wal-Mart, Toys “R” Us, Best Buy and DisneyShopping.com and will carry $299.99 suggested retails, each.

The Disney iPod speakers use Apple’s 30-pin connector, and will connect to an iPod or Disney Mix personal media players.

Available in High School Musical and Hannah Montana styles, the docking stations include an iPod compatible/personal media player dock, a digital AM/FM alarm clock radio, and 2.5-3 watts per channel speakers, and a smart/self timer chip.

The High School Musical style is bright red and resembles a school locker. The purple and silver Hannah Montana speaker comes in two designs – the standard design with iPod compatible/personal media player dock and digital AM/FM alarm clock radio, and a second design featuring a guitar amp with microphone and guitar inputs. The Disney speakers will be carried by Best Buy, Toys “R” Us and Wal-Mart stores at a $69.99 suggested retail.
