Dish Kicks Off Google TV Package

Network

began offering its GoogleTV solution Wednesday at a $179 retail.

The system combines GoogleTV’s advanced search capabilities,
Internet access and DLNA content options with a Dish Network DVR and video-on-demand
(VOD) content.

“Only Dish Network customers will have access to the most fully featured
Google TV experience available, which includes our unique pairing protocol for
simultaneous search capabilities across Web and DVR content, as well as Dish
Network’s VOD programming,” stated Ira Bahr, Dish Network chief marketing
officer. “Customers can now surf the Web, check email, interact with social
media, and find additional online television content all from the comfort of
their living room sofa.”

Dish’s Google TV solution requires a DVR integration service of
$4 per month, and includes the Logitech Revue with Google TV set-top box, which
is available for a special price of $179 as a special deal for Dish Network
customers.

The Google TV experience is compatible with Dish Network ViP
series HD DVR satellite TV receivers including the ViP 622, ViP 722 and ViP
722k.

Dish said it will also make its enhanced Google TV experience
available to customers who purchase a Logitech Revue or Sony Internet TV
powered by Google TV from retail outlets, but they need to order through Dish
Network to quality for the special $179 rate.
