Digital Blue Intros Disney Cams

Burbank, Calif. — Move over Barbi-cam, Disney is planting its flag in the digital camera market with the introduction three new models, a video recorder and a portable viewer courtesy of manufacturer Digital Blue.

The Disney Pix cameras will carry a variety of Disney themes including Disney Chrome, High School Musical, Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars, Little Mermaid, Disney Princess and Tinker Bell. They are shipping this month from Disney Consumer Products.

Each camera will be bundled with Disney Pix software for editing and customizing images with Disney characters, stamps, and frames. A video editing version is also available for digital camcorder products.

The Micro is a small form factor model that snaps up to 24 CIF resolution images. It features an LCD for camera status and runs on a single AAA battery. It will retail for a suggested $19.99.

The VGA resolution Click, for a suggested $49.99, offers a 1-inch LCD for reviewing images, a 2x digital zoom with a built-in flash and a 200 photo capacity. Additionally, it offers a TV out and will be bundled with two interchangeable face plates.

The 3-megapixel Disney Pix Max features a 1.5-inch color LCD screen, built-in frames, a 4x digital zoom and a memory card slot. It will retail for a suggested $79.99.

There will also be a flash-based video recorder in the Disney line. The Princess Digital Movie Maker sports 32MB of internal memory for recording VGA resolution video and audio. A video-editing version of the Disney Pix software will be bundled with the model allowing users to add music, animation, sound effects, titles and credits. The Princess will retail for a suggested $79.99.

The Disney Keychain Digital Brag Book is a key-chain digital photo frame with a 1.1-inch LCD screen and memory for up to 50 photos. The $29.99 frame connects to a PC via USB and draws powers from two AAA batteries (not included).

A variety of big box retailers have committed to the Disney line including Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, Limited Too, Claire’s, Toys ‘R’ Us, KB Toys, and Ritz Camera among others.
