Dell Cuts Flat-Panel TV Prices

Round Rock, Texas — Dell cut prices in select flat-panel TV models, including its 42W-inch high-definition plasma television, which declined 14 percent from $3,499 to $2,999, the company announced.

“When we introduced this product we said that the efficiencies of our business provided us with room to pass on savings to customers,” said Michael Farello, Dell’s electronics and accessories VP. “We want to bring the benefits and enjoyment of digital television products to the mass market and believe this is the right action to take on behalf of customers.”

The W4200HD 42W-inch HD plasma set is a fully integrated HDTV featuring built-in NTSC (analog) and ATSC (digital) TV tuners. It measures 3 inches thick.

Dell backs the product with a one-year limited warranty with on-site exchange service included in the price with additional warranty and service options available.

In other price moves, the company chopped up to 10 percent from the price of select LCD-TV models. The W3000 30W-inch LCD TV is now priced at $1,799, and the W2600 26W-inch LCD TV was reduced to $1,499.

Dell’s flat-panel television line now ranges from $799 for a 19-inch LCD TV to $2,999 for the W4200HD.

The company plans to introduce additional models prior to the holiday selling season.
