DECT Sales Higher Than Predicted

1/22/2007 02:00:00 AM Eastern

Berne, Switzerland — More than 1 million Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telephony-enabled (DECT) products were sold in the United States in 2006, exceeding initial forecasts, according to the DECT Forum, an industry association.

The Forum’s initial forecast pegged 2006 sales to reach 634,000 units in the United States. Instead, more than a million DECT devices, principally cordless phones, were sold this year.

Updated sales projections for 2007 and beyond will be available in the second quarter, Roland Schmidt, DECT marketing, told TWICE.

According to the Forum, 35 vendors are currently selling DECT products with more manufacturers expected to join the ranks in 2007.
