D-Link Boxee Box Adds Vudu, Netflix

D-Link’s

 Boxee Box, an Internet-access device for TV
sets, now features support for both Netflix and Vudu streaming-video services,
the company said Monday.

The Boxee Box has
support for a full web browser, full HD streaming from the Internet, support
for popular media file formats, and integrated social networking that delivers
personal recommendations a TV set through an HDMI connection.

Boxee Box by
D-Link users who are Netflix members can instantly watch thousands of TV shows
and movies streaming from Netflix for subscription fees starting at $7.99 per
month.

Vudu provides
Boxee Box users access to a large selection of HD movies on demand, new
releases (same day as DVD) and thousands of standard-definition movies for
rentals starting at $2 apiece for two nights.

The Vudu HDX
format on the Boxee Box is 1080p high-definition at 24 fps with Dolby Digital
Plus 5.1 surround. Featuring TruFilm, Vudu optimizes the encoding, transmission
and display of HDX movies on 40-inch and larger HDTVs. Vudu is offering new
Boxee Box users a $5.99 credit toward a first rental or purchase.
