Custom Industry Seeking Growth Ideas At CEDIA Expo

ATLANTA

– The custom-installation industry
is turning to new technologies and business
strategies to reinvigorate a market
whose growth drivers — home
construction and home remodeling
— could remain off their peaks
for a few more years.

As a result, many electronic systems contractors
(ESCs) and marketers who will attend the
CEDIA Expo, here, Sept. 22-26, are bracing for
a slow climb out of a prolonged slump. Many are
turning to retrofit installations and have diversified
into light- and medium-commercial installation
as well as networking and security to cope.

For its part, CEDIA will unveil its first New
Technology Pavilion to highlight potential profit
opportunities in such emerging areas as energy
management, home health monitoring, and residential
communications and related categories.
A Home Health Technology Pavilion will give installers
hands-on experience with technologies
said to enable consumers to “age in place.”
