Control4 Debuts Tablet Controller

Indianapolis – Control4 is introducing its 7-inch
Portable Touch Screen, a two-way intelligent control and navigation device with
a tablet-like form factor.

The Portable features a
capacitive full-color LCD panel, a rechargeable battery and a tabletop charging
station.

Out of the cradle, the Portable
controls any Control4 home system component wirelessly from anywhere in a
house. When the tablet is docked, it functions as a tabletop touchscreen for
locations like nightstands where an in-wall or fully portable device isn’t
necessary.

Users tap the display screen to
access any of the home’s subsystems, with apps for lighting, security,
surveillance, audio, energy monitoring, streaming radio, parental movie
controls, door locks, and vacation or wake-up timer scenes. The touchscreen
also features four programmable buttons for quick access to favorite control
features.

The Portable provides intercom
functionality with a license activation. The intercom allows the homeowner to
have an ongoing conversation with a person at another intercom device without
requiring either person to hold down a button, the company said, and users can
ring room to room.

Do not disturb and privacy
features are available to provide control over the use of the intercom. The
Portable also adds whole-home intercom functionality by allowing users to take
an intercom device from one room to another room or into parts of the house
where one might not install an in-wall touch screen, the company said.

The device includes Ethernet, AC
or Power-over-Ethernet and network connectivity. It retails for $999 and the
intercom license is an additional $399.

Control4 is in booth 2302.
