Consumer HP Slate Possible In 2011

Palo Alto, Calif. – A consumer version of Hewlett-Packard’s just
announced Slate 500 Tablet PC could be set for 2011.

A company spokesperson hinted a consumer model would be available
in 2011 and, in a written release, HP stated it would evaluate the
enterprise-oriented Slate 500 Tablet PC for further market expansion.

The Slate 500 will carry a $799 price tag and run on the Windows
7 operating system. A ship date has not been announced.

It has an 8.9-inch multi-touch display and is bundled with a
digital pen and HP Evernote software that allows users to handwrite notes and
email.

Other features include a 3-megapixel webcam and it comes with an
HP Slate Dock and Slate Portfolio.

HP gave a glimpse of its tablet PC concept at International CES
last January and at the time indicated it would be a consumer product. Since
then HP has purchased Palm gaining access to its consumer WebOS platform.
