ComScore: Kindle Fire Tops In Android Tablet Share

Reston, Va. – The Kindle Fire tablet, launched last
November, is on fire.

Kindle
Fire almost doubled its share of the installed Android-tablet base in the U.S. from
29.4 percent in December 2011 to 54.4 percent in February 2012, ComScore
research shows. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab family followed, with a February share of
15.4 percent, trailed by the Motorola Xoom at 7 percent share, Asus Transformer
at 6.3 percent, and Toshiba AT100 at 5.7 percent. Acer, Dell, Lenovo and Song
models followed.

ComScore
measured the share of unique devices in use in December, January and February.

The study also
found that the amount of web browsing goes up with tablet screen size. People
with 10-inch tablets view 39 percent more web pages than users of 7-inch tablets
and 58 percent more than users of 5-inch tablets.
