Irvine, Calif. — Gateway named J. Edward Coleman CEO late yesterday, replacing Rick Snyder who served as interim CEO since February.
Previously, Coleman was senior VP and president of Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions, a supplier of products, services and solutions to industrial and commercial customers. Prior to that Coleman was CEO of CompuCom, an IT services and solution provider.
Gateway had been searching for a new CEO since Wayne Inouye resigned.
Coleman is arriving at Gateway during a rather tumultuous period with Lap Shun (John) Hui, one of its major stockholders, attempting to purchase Gateway’s retail operation. In mid-August Hui made an unsolicited $450 million offer that was rejected by the company’s board. One of the reasons Hui cited for his buyout attempt was the company’s inability to find a new CEO.
