CHICAGO — Cobra updated its iRadar line of dash-mounted radar detectors with the unveiling of the iRadar 230 last week.
The iRadar 230, which is an upgrade over the iRadar 200, features built-in Bluetooth. When paired with an accompanying smartphone app, the device detects police radar/laser signals and provides real-time notifications of speed and red light cameras, live police and photo enforcement areas, and caution areas. The data is shared with other iRadar users nearby.
The new detector also adds Google maps, music control, simple navigation, Traffic-On Map, Follow Me Mode for map scalability depending on vehicle speed, and Perspective Direction Up, according to the company.
It will be available in November for a $99.95 suggested retail.
Cobra also introduced the AirWave 360, a portable Bluetooth speaker with Siri/S Voice control. The 8-inch speakerphone features audio-out, LED indicator, 360-degree sound, volume control and a design meant to fit in a car’s cup holder. Battery life is listed at 20 hours of music playback.
The speaker has a 2-inch full range neodymium driver and a 2-inch passive radiator in a sealed enclosure for added bass response, Cobra told TWICE, noting that the driver fires into an inverted cone-shaped sound deflector for 360-degree sound dispersion. The frequency response range is listed at 160HZ to 20kHZ.
The gesture control operates via two IR LEDs on the top of the unit to detect directional motion across the controls. Tracks can be skipped by swiping forward and backward, as well as answering and ending calls.
It will ship in November for $129.
