Circuit CFO Besanko Moves To OfficeMax

Naperville, Ill. — Circuit City executive VP and chief financial officer Bruce Besanko will assume the same role at OfficeMax on Feb. 16.

The announcement comes less than one week after the bankrupt CE chain began the largest liquidation in retail history.

Besanko joined Circuit City from The Yankee Candle Co. in 2007, and before that served as a finance VP at Best Buy from 2002 to 2005. He also held several financial leadership positions from 1996 to 2002 in the hardlines business at Sears, Roebuck.

He succeeds Don Civgin, who resigned as CFO last August to pursue another opportunity outside of OfficeMax.

“We are very excited to have Bruce join our management team,” OfficeMax chairman/CEO Sam Duncan said in a statement. “Bruce brings a strong background in business and financial leadership that will further strengthen our management team, and we look forward to his many contributions.”
