Frank Abagnale

Thursday, September 6

Keynote Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Frank W. Abagnale is one of the world’s most respected authorities on the subjects of forgery, embezzlement, and secure documents. For over 25 years he has lectured to and consulted with hundreds of financial institutions, corporations, and government agencies around the world. His latest book, The Art of the Steal, is now available through Random House/Broadway Books.

His rare blend of knowledge and expertise began as a teenager. More than 30 years ago, he was known as one of the world’s most famous confidence men as depicted in his best-selling book, Catch Me if You Can. He cashed $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in every state and 26 foreign countries over a five-year period. Between the ages of 16 and 21, he successfully posed as an airline pilot, an attorney, a college professor, and a pediatrician. Apprehended by the French police when he was 21 years old, he served time in French, Swedish, and U.S. prison systems. After five years, he was released on the condition that he would help the government, without remuneration, by teaching and assisting federal law enforcement agencies.

Mr. Abagnale has been associated with the FBI for over 25 years. He lectures extensively at the FBI Academy and for the Field offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. More than 14,000 financial institutions, corporations, and law enforcement agencies use his programs. In 1998 he was selected as a distinguished member of the “Pinnacle 400” by CNN Financial News.

Mr. Abagnale is now the subject of a major motion picture, which completed filming in May 2002. The movie, Catch Me if You Can, is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen, James Brolin, Jennifer Garner, and Amy Adams. The movie was released on Christmas Day 2002.

Frank Abagnale’s incredible story has a moral. In an emotional roller coaster ride he takes you from laughter to tears and explains what life is really about.

Marcus Buckingham

Friday, September 7

Annual Meeting & Membership Luncheon: 11:30 a.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Best-Selling Author, First, Break All The Rules, and Now, Discover Your Strengths

Expert on Outstanding Leadership and Management Practices

During his 17 years with The Gallup Organization, Marcus Buckingham helped lead their research into the world’s best managers, leaders and workplaces.

A highly sought after speaker and consultant, Buckingham has taken his broad experience in management practices and employee retention and put it into two best-selling books: First, Break All the Rules: What the World’s Best Managers do Differently and Now, Discover Your Strengths.

His new book, titled The One Thing You Need To Know, explores the controlling insights that drive great management, great leadership and sustained individual success.

Buckingham’s presentations take the key points of these books, combined with plenty of great examples from a wide variety of organizations, to show audiences how they can learn from the world’s best managers and leaders.

According to Buckingham, it is employee retention and employee happiness that directly relates to customer satisfaction, and therefore to the bottom line. He explores how harnessing the best employee's talent and good management truly affects customer loyalty, and how the trust given by a great manager to employees to handle customers in "their way" creates an atmosphere that generates intimacy with clients.

A wonderful resource for both Human Resources and Management issues, Buckingham challenges conventional wisdom and shows the link between employee opinions and productivity, profit, customer satisfaction, and the rate of turnover.

Marcus Buckingham is now running his own company, One Thing Inc., based in California.

Mr. Buckingham graduated from Cambridge University in 1987, with a master’s degree in Social and Political Science.
