5/05/2003 02:56:00 PM Eastern

Arlington, Va. - The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and Hannover Faires have canceled the CeBIT CES Home Electronics Show scheduled to take place in Shanghai next week due to the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

The two organizations, which co-sponsor the event, were advised by the Shanghai New International Expo Centre to postpone the May 14-17 trade show primarily because of the disease. However, the event was cancelled instead, according to a statement issued by the CEA and Hannover Faires.
