CEA, Mr. Youth Plan College Tech Tour

Arlington, Va. — The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and Mr. Youth, a strategic consulting, promotional and tour management company, are partnering to bring this year’s CEA-powered TechKnowOverload (TKO) Tour to 23 college campuses throughout the Midwest and East Coast this fall.

The tour will give student attendees a chance to sample new CE products and technologies from a variety of vendors without ever having to step off campus.

“Technology is changing the way college students study, play and live,” said Gary Shapiro, CEA president/CEO. “Students are now downloading their lectures onto their MP3 players so they can listen to them again before an exam. Professors are teaching remotely using webcasts. The TKO Tour is the place for the college crowd to get direct access to these technologies that are helping them grow, both as students and people.”

Event sponsors include Adobe, Asus Computer, Audiovox, Gibson Guitar, NVIDIA, Skype and Sony. The tour began at the University of Toledo in Ohio on Aug. 28 and will end in New Orleans at the University of New Orleans. Other schools on the tour include Kent State (Kent, Ohio), SUNY Albany (Albany, N.Y.), University of Massachusetts at Amherst (Amherst, Mass.), George Washington University (Washington, D.C.), North Carolina State University (Raleigh, N.C.), Georgia State University (Atlanta), University of Central Florida (Orlando, Fla.), University of Mississippi (Oxford, Miss.), Tulane (New Orleans) and more. Tour highlights also include a two-day stay at CollegeFest in Boston on Sept. 9-10.

Event attractions include The Ultimate Dorm Room, a 2,000 square-foot replica featuring up to $10,000 worth of student-friendly technology products including a custom gaming computer and an LCD TV. Event attendees will have the opportunity to enter to win the contents of the room, one winner will be picked at the end of the tour.
