Arlington, Va. - The Consumer Electronics Association today sent
a letter to its members clarifying the details of its CEA
Tech Enthusiast program.
The letter is reprinted here:
Dear CES Exhibitor,
We are excited to announce that the Consumer Electronics
Association (CEA) is launching a new membership category for the nation's most
enthusiastic consumers of technology - the CEA Tech Enthusiast (CTE) member
category. As consumer members of CEA, CTEs will enjoy insider access to
information about technology trends from CEA experts, as well as discounts on
products and services from CEA corporate member companies. By creating this
community of tech enthusiasts, CEA will build broad enthusiasm for technology
products and services offered by our member companies and our CES exhibitors,
thus helping fulfill CEA's mission to grow the consumer electronics industry.
We are also holding a very special celebration of the launch of
the CEA Tech Enthusiast program for a small group of the first new CTE members.
On Sunday, January 9, we will allow these first few CTE members to take an
"inside look" at CES - a chance to see the show floor that consumers can only
see on TV or online. This once-in-a-lifetime chance to glimpse CES will not be
repeated and will not be available to anyone other than CTE members.
You may have read stories suggesting that CES is now open to
consumers: this is absolutely false. The CTE celebration at CES will help
inspire our most enthusiastic early adopters to explore all the exciting new
products introduced at CES once they hit store shelves.
If you are interested in more information about the CEA Tech
Enthusiast membership category or would like to become a corporate partner of
CEA in this new category, please contact Deb Kassoff, dkassoff@CE.org.
Thanks for your support of the 2011 International CES, and I look
forward to seeing you in Las Vegas!
