Arlington, Va.–The R10 Residential Systems committee, a joint CEA–CEDIA group, issued the first of its installation-practices guidelines, which are intended to coax maximum performance out of home theater and multichannel-music systems installed in rooms with different acoustics characteristics.
The document is dubbed CEA/CEDIA-CEB22: Home Theater Recommended Practice: Audio Design Bulletin.
“CEB 22 is a model recommended practice enabling ESCs [electronics systems contractors] to design a home theater for maximum performance,” said Dave Pedigo, CEDIA’s senior director of technology. “This document is the first in a series of bulletins regarding high-performance home theater design. The creation of these documents will ultimately foster better theater design throughout the industry while easing the burden of ESCs to prepare for certification exams.”
In the bulletin, the committee added, many recommended practices are applicable to two-channel systems.
Brian Markwalter, CEA Technology and Standards VP, called the document “an important addition to CEA’s Technology and Standards program.”
The R10 committee is co-chaired by Walt Zerbe, Russound product manager, and Mario Leone, senior partner at Electronic Solutions Company. Participation in CEA standards activities is open to companies and groups that need not be CEA members.
