CDW Bought For $7.3B

Vernon Hills, Ill. — CDW today signed a definitive merger agreement to be acquired by the private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners, LLC, for $7.3 billion.

CDW’s board of directors has approved the sale and will encourage the company’s shareholders to approve the deal, which upon shareholder and regulatory approval could close by the end of the third quarter, the company said.

CDW placed 59th on TWICE’s 2007 Top 100 Consumer Electronic Retailers list with $158 million in retail sales. The company primarily sells to businesses, education and government institutions reported overall sales of $6.8 billion in 2006.
