Car Security Goes Color At CES 2007

Car security products debuting this year at International CES include the following:

CodeAlarm‘s new remote starter has a transmitter that looks like a ChapStick and is called the StartStick. It adds remote start to a factory keyless-entry system, without adding a second bulky transmitter. The compact transmitter offers 1,000-foot range at $139.

Also new is a FlashLogic system that lets installers program a remote-start adapter from a computer so they don’t have to stock an adapter for each vehicle. The FlashLogic kits range from $70 to $145.

Crimestopper‘s two-way Infinity car security system has a full-color LCD transmitter for easier viewing. Users can download their own images to the transmitter screen via a USB adapter. The Infinity comes in two models — a CS2900FM with 0.5-mile range and a one-mile, 915MHz version that ships this month called the CS2915FH. Both are combination alarm/remote start units with keyless entry.

Directed is showing new color transponders that offer 65K animate color at 10 fps to ship in January in remote-start and security systems from Viper, Python and Clifford at $719 suggested retail price.

Megatronix is introducing the MEGA 160 motorcycle alarm with do-it-yourself installation. The mini waterproof, one-piece alarm is designed also for ATVs, dirt bikes and golf carts.
