- Canon USA introduced Tuesday five new
Pixma printers, all of which feature a new FullHD movie print function.
The new FullHD
Movie Print function, which is compatible with HD Canon EOS and PowerShot digital
cameras, enables grabbing and printing still images from segments of HD video
clips stored on connected cameras.
All of the new
models also include an improved Auto Photo Fix II feature to further enhance
images, while Easy-PhotoPrint EX software allows users to easily find and use images,
including those on Flickr.

The new Pixma printer
models include the MG5220, MP495 wireless photo all-in-one (AIO) printer, and
the MG5120 and MP280 photo AIO printers. Also included is the iP4820 basic inkjet

increased overall quality and ease of use from earlier models.
EX software enables searching for images to print high-quality photos, albums,
calendars, layouts and stickers from computers without having to launch an Internet
Auto Photo Fix II,
which helps correct common photo errors, has been improved with enhanced light
source recognition and color cast correction to increase overall image quality.
Upgrades to the enhanced Easy-WebPrint EX
software (Windows Only) include a new Fit-to-One-Page button for easy printing
of text and images from websites.
The button is said
to be especially useful when printing driving directions so both the map of the
area and the step-by-step directions are on one page.
This new software
will also provide printing of multiple documents into a booklet format for easy
handling and improved organization while images can be inserted into the print
layouts allowing users to personalize their information even further.
The MG5220 ($150 estimated selling price), and
MP495 ($80) wireless photo AIO models offer five individual ink tanks with the
ChromaLife100 + ink system. The Pixma MG5220 wireless photo AIO printer has a
maximum color resolution of 9,600 by 2,400 dpi and can create a 4-inch by 6-inch
borderless photos in approximately 20 seconds.
Advanced media handling
capabilities with Auto Duplex printing and a two-way paper feed are added to
help reduce paper usage and the amount of time to complete a project.
Also included is a
2.4-inch TFT screen and newly redesigned user interface.
Model MP495 wireless photo AIO offers a more
affordable wireless printing option, featuring ChromaLife100 + ink system and 4,800
by 1,200 dpi maximum color resolution. The new printer can produce a 4- by 6-inch
high-quality borderless photos in approximately 41 seconds.
Also included is
an Auto Scan Mode, which automatically recognizes the type of original, then
scans and saves the suitable settings.
Both printers are 802.11n Wi-Fi certified,
which will allow for a faster network transfer rate. Wireless networks can be easily set up when
using a Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
For users of
Android-based mobile phones, a Canon Easy-PhotoPrint (EPP) for Android
application allows images captured with the phone's camera to be printed easily
printed. A similar Canon Easy-PhotoPrint for iPhone (iEPP) application is also
available for free on the App Store for users of Apple iPhones, iPads and

documents of high quality at affordable prices. Both models include the
ChromaLife100 + ink system, with the MG5120 offering 9,600 by 2,400 resolution
