Canon Ads Wi-Fi Multifunctions

Lake Success, N.Y. — Canon will ship two new compact Selphy printers to dealers this fall, including a model with 1GB of internal memory, alongside new Wi-Fi-enabled Pixma all-in-one models.

Both the Selphy ES3 and ES30 will offer an image-optimizer feature for correcting photos, and a built-in handle and power adapter.

The Selphy ES3 will include 1GB of flash memory along with an expanded roster of scrapbooking templates (47 different varieties), clip art (28), calendar layouts (12) and background colors (six).

The ES3 will also feature a 3.5-inch LCD and retail for $199.

The ES30, for $149, will include 18 templates, 10 pieces of clip art and a 3-inch LCD.

Canon has added two new Easy Photo Packs to its consumables lineup that add gold or silver effects to images.

The new MP980 and MP620 all-in-ones will feature integrated Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking; auto photo fix, which detects the type of image being printed and corrects for common defects; and a new auto scan mode, which detects the kind of document being scanned and automatically crops and saves the file to either a PDF or JPEG based on image type.

Both printers incorporate new ChromaLife100+ dye inks and are 26 percent smaller than their predecessors, Canon said.

The MP980 is the company’s first to offer separate gray and photo black inks for improved black-and-white printing. It features six individual ink tanks and can produce a 4-inch by 6-inch print in 20 seconds. The scanner includes an LED light for a faster start-up and less energy consumption.

The MP980 will retail for $299.

For $149, MP620 uses five inks, with 4- by 6-inch prints produced at 41 seconds. It features a scroll wheel and a 2.5-inch LCD, along with a scan-to-memory card or USB drive function.
