Bethpage, N.Y. — Cablevision Systems Corp. has named Jeffrey B. Yapp group president of its retail division, which includes New York metro area CE specialist The Wiz.
Yapp, formerly president and chief operating officer of the Hollywood Entertainment video chain, will oversee all aspects of The Wiz’s retail operations, although the company said his primary task is to create “an integrated and cohesive retail strategy” for The Wiz and sister division Clearview Cinemas, a regional theater chain. He is also responsible for maximizing sales and gross margins, controlling retail operating expenses and ensuring a superior customer experience of both businesses, while developing cross-promotional projects with other Cablevision properties.
Yapp, a former president of Worldwide 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, VP/marketing at PepsiCo, and VP/international division at Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery, reports directly to Cablevision president/CEO James Dolan. Yapp’s direct report at the 43-store The Wiz is chief operating officer Norman Goldberg, to whom Tasso Koken, executive VP/merchandising and marketing, continues to report.
