Best Buy Consolidating Midwest Repair Operations

6/18/2007 10:46:00 AM Eastern

Minneapolis — Best Buy is closing two service centers, in St. Louis and in Bloomington, Minn., to consolidate repair operations in the Midwest and cut costs.

The closings are slated for August and will result in the loss of 180 jobs, a Best Buy spokesperson confirmed. Thereafter, products that cannot be repaired at area Best Buy stores will be sent to the retailer’s service facilities in Dallas or Chicago.

The move will reduce the number of Best Buy repair centers nationwide from 12 to 10.
