Irvine, Calif. - BenQ America
introduced Tuesday a next-generation mini projector called the BenQ Joybee GP2.

The GP2 (shipping now at a $549 suggested retail) follows the
GP1, keeping the same black and white housing, but adds an intuitive user
interface, 720p HD-ready video capability, short-throw projection capability,
an integrated iPhone/iPod dock, an optional three-hour battery pack, and a
multitude of connectivity options.

The system uses a highly efficient 3LED lamp source and DLP micro-mirror
chip. BenQ said the projector is palm-sized and weighs 565 grams.

Brightness is rated at 200 ANSI lumens, and the maximum image
size is 160 inches.

A built-in 2-watt speaker enables playing music or film
soundtracks using a connected iPhone/iPod.

Multimedia connectivity includes USB and SD card viewers, a
document viewer for Microsoft Office and PDF documents, and mini HDMI port for
tablets and smartphones.

A USB display allows users to connect computers to the mini
projector using a USB cable -- no driver is required.

The USB file-transfer function enables offloading multimedia
files to the unit's 2GB of onboard memory storage.

The BenQ Joybee GP2 will be on display at the 2012 International
CES at the BenQ Hilton Suite 28-105.
