New York – Barnes & Noble today launched an e-reader app for
the Apple iPad.
The free app allows iPad users to customize their e-reader
program with different themes; shop online for more than 1 million e-books,
newspapers and magazines; and share e-books with friends using Barnes &
Noble’s LendMe technology.
LendMe also works with Apple’s iPod and iPod Touch.
Other features include the ability to browse a person’s entire
Barnes & Noble library, including books on the Nook. The app lists the
last-read item first and has an in-book search option. The app allows for note
taking, bookmarking pages, using the dictionary and making highlights. It will
also look up a word on Wikipedia or Google.
The app also allows the iPad to sync with computers running BN’s
e-reader software.
