Irvine, Calif. — Gateway rolled out its back-to-school lineup today with four new eMachines desktops, including a $599 Media Center unit.

The eMachines T6520 Media Center, $599 after $50 mail-in rebate, features an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ processor; 1GB of memory; a 200GB hard drive; ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics card; double-layer, dual-format DVD burner; and a CD-ROM drive.

At the $500 price level, after $50 mail-in rebate, is the T6410. It is also equipped with an AMD 64-bit processor, the 3200+, but differs from the top-end model by having 512MB of memory, a 160GB hard drive and just the dual-format, double-layer DVD burner.

The step-down T4010, $399 after mail-in rebate, jumps over to an Intel Celeron 2.93GHz processor, and it has a slightly smaller 100GB hard drive. Other changes include a DVD/CD-ROM drive and an Intel Extreme Graphics 2 card.

The entry-level piece is the T3990, coming in at $339 after $50 mail-in rebate. It is powered by a Celeron 2.8GHz processor, 256MB of memory, 80GB hard drive and a CD-RW drive.

All models began shipping June 23.
