CES 2014 Las Vegas – Dual Corp. came to International CES to launch six new head units under its Axxera brand, including the brand’s first three DVD-receivers with MHL-enabled HDMI inputs to mirror the display of a connected iPhone 5, 5s and 5c and MHL-enabled Android phones.

The lineup, targeted to 12-volt specialists, also includes Axxera’s first multimedia receiver with a detachable 10.1-inch LCD and the brand’s first two CD-receivers with Motion Control technology. Motion Control lets users control the most often-used functions by waving their hand in front of the radios. Controlled functions include play/pause, tune/track, and volume up/down.

The head-unit introductions consist of four DVD-receivers priced from a suggested $279 to $479 and two CD-receivers at $139 and $159. All ship in the first quarter.

The DVD-receivers from $299 to $479 feature HDMI/MHL connectivity for Android and Apple devices. Called DualMirror by the company, the feature lets users mirror the screen of an HDMI-connected Android or Apple smartphone onto the receiver’s larger screen. The smartphones’ apps, however, can’t be controlled from the mirrored displays.

The flagship $479 AV1014BH DVD-multimedia receiver features the 10.1-inch display, which is an LED-backlit high-definition display. DualMirror technology also appears in the $299 AV614BH and $299 multimedia receivers.

All four new multimedia units, including the $279 AV604Bi, feature built-in hands-free and stereo Bluetooth technology. All models also boast new colorful GUIs with large icons for the most-used functions appearing on the main screen.

The two new CD receivers are the $159 AC504BiM and $139 AC404iM with Motion Control technology. Both also control the Pandora app on USB-connected iPhones. From the head units’ controls, users can mark Pandora tracks with a thumbs up or down, bookmark a song for purchase, and switch between personalized radio stations. The top model also features hands-free and stereo Bluetooth.

The introductions are part of a line expansion that includes 14 amplifiers, seven subwoofers and speakers, a wireless smart EQ processor for Android and Apple smartphones, and three rear-seat entertainment monitors.

All Axxera products are backed by a 2-year warranty if purchased and installed by an authorized Axxera dealer.
