Hauppauge,
N.Y. – Audiovox plans International CES introductions of the first aftermarket
Blu-ray player announced to date.
The
Blu-ray player is a single-DIN model that mounts in the dash, under a seat or
in the trunk and can be connected to any in-vehicle monitor via its HDMI,
composite or component outputs. The player comes with wireless remote and can
be mounted horizontally or vertically and is small enough to fit in storage
compartments. The player also features a front-panel USB input to display video
stored on flash drives.
The
player, whose details will be disclosed at CES, received a 2011 Best of
Innovations Award from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA).
Audiovox
also won Innovations awards for two other products. One is a combination
remote-start and security system that can be controlled from an OEM key-fob
keyless-entry transmitter. Competing add-on systems enable either
security-system arming/disarming or remote starting from an OEM key fob, but
not both. As a result, consumers who wanted to add security and remote starting
to a factory keyless-entry system wound up carrying a remote, either to start
the car or control the security system.
The
AS9233ST add-on system, shipping earlier this month, remote starts a vehicle from
up to 1,200 feet away. An impact sensor is included along with an onboard
starter relay.
The
third award winner, to be introduced at CES, is a collision-avoidance rearview
camera system that, unlike other back-up systems, delivers both audible and
visual alerts of stationary and moving objects, including pedestrians, behind a
vehicle. With other systems, Audiovox said, consumers had to buy separate
camera and sensor systems.
The
camera in the CAM430MV system can be connected to any LCD screen, including a
factory-installed navigation screen. On the screen, the system displays a color
box around a moving or stationary object or person while also emitting an
audible alert. The onscreen boxes change color as the vehicle gets closer to
the object, and the beep tone grows more urgent as the vehicle gets closer.
