Audiovox Adds OE-Look Head Unit For Tundra/Sequoia

Hauppauge, N.Y. –

Audiovox

continued to expand its

selection of OE-look A/V-navigation
systems

with the launch of a system for the Toyota Tundra and Sequoia.

The system is the
10th new OE-look nav system launched by Audiovox under its Advent brand in the
past three months, the company said. The launches have expanded the selection
of OE-look head units to 12, and the company promises seven to 10 more by
year’s end.

The factory-fit heads
are sold though new car dealers and expediters to fill a niche left by
automakers that offer sophisticated A/V-navigation systems in high-end vehicles
but limit such systems’ availability in low- to mid-end vehicles by bundling
the systems in with expensive options packages, the company said.

“With our program,
consumers can add the much desired sound and navigation upgrade without having
to add other expensive and unwanted options that are often part of the sound
package,” said Audiovox Electronics president Tom Malone.

All of the OE-look
heads are touchscreen-equipped double-DIN A/V-nav units designed to match OEM
cosmetics and plug into the factory wiring harness of particular vehicles. When
necessary, the head units plug into the vehicle’s digital databus and
steering-wheel controls.

Audiovox’s OE-look
heads are usually priced by car dealers at about $2,000 installed.

The Tundra/Sequoia
head unit offers Navteq U.S./Canada maps; turn-by-turn voice guidance in
English, French and Spanish; 19 languages of onscreen display; and 11 million
points of interest with 3D landmarks. The XM-ready head also features built-in
Parrot Bluetooth with external microphone, 7-inch touchscreen display, iPod/iPhone
control,  rear-view camera with
Instant-on technology, and MediaLink interface modules with USB input to allow
for playback of iPod or iPhone video with an optional cable.

The other available
Advent systems include a universal double-DIN model and separate models
designed for specific vehicle brands or vehicle models. Those brands and models
include GM vehicles, the Honda CRV, Honda Civic, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai
Sonata, Toyota Highlander, Toyota RAV4, VW, Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry.
