Montebello, Calif. - Amplifier Technologies Inc. (ATI) will bring digital room-correction technology to its stable of home-audio brand for the first time with the announcement of a licensing deal with a company whose technology is used in high-end vehicles and digital cinema theaters.

ATI will use technology developed by Sweden's Dirac Research, whose Dirac Live system is used in select BMW, Bentley and Rolls Royce vehicles.

ATI plans to add Dirac Live to the Theta Digital Casablanca III HD preamp/processor and expects to offer a free-standing Dirac Live component under the B&K brand, said Jeff Hipps, ATI senior VP of sales and marketing
Although the company will display the Casablanca III HD at the CEDIA Expo, it won't yet have Dirac Live capability, said Hipps. The B&K unit is not expected to be unveiled until CES, he added.

For its part, Dirac will attend the show to demonstrate its technology, which uses "mixed-phase impulse-response correction to reduce the effects of early room reflections and to improve playback clarity," ATI said.
