Apple's worldwide product marketing senior VP.
For its part, Sprint reported on
Friday, the first day that it began selling the iPhone 4S and the previous-generation
iPhone 4, sales of both models combined exceeded expectations. In addition, the
carrier said it enjoyed its best-ever day of sales though its retail, web and
telesales channels for "a device family in Sprint history."
"The response to this device by
current and new customers has surpassed our expectations and validates our
customers' desire for a truly unlimited data pricing plan," said Sprint product
chief Fared Adib.
As of 4:30 p.m. Friday, AT&T
said it had already activated a record number of iPhones and was on track to
double its previous record for iPhone activations in a single day.
