AMD Q3 Profits Down

Sunnyvale, Calif. – AMD third quarter sales were off more than 22 percent, which is expected to result in a loss possibly as high as $100 million for that period.

AMD executives blamed pricing pressures for the decline stating the company had sold as many processors as the previous quarter, about 7.7 million, but at a much lower price. Total sales for the quarter, ended Sept. 30, are expected to be about $766 million, down from the $985 million posted during the same period in 2000.
