Seattle - Amazon today said it will begin marketing Kindle
Singles, or shorter-than-average books, for the Kindle.
In a sparse explanation of Singles, Amazon said they will be
stories, articles and other written content that falls short of the usual
length of a book, but would be much larger than a typical magazine feature
story. These would stretch between 10,000 and 30,000 words, compared with the
50,000 of a traditional book.
The Kindle Singles will have their own section of Amazon's e-Book
Store and will be priced much lower than regular e-books.
Amazon did not say when the first Single would be released, the
exact pricing, or if it was operating through traditional book publishers or
with author's directly.
