Always On Wireless Debuts Wi-Fi VoIP

9/29/2005 12:25:00 PM Eastern

Huntington Beach, Calif. — Always On Wireless announced a new Wi-Fi communications hub and associated VoIP calling service offering unlimited domestic calling for $12.95 per month with no annual contract.

WiFlyer+v is designed for users with existing home networks. By plugging a home phone into the WiFlyer+v and connecting the unit to an RJ11 jack, users can make VoIP calls over a Wi-Fi Internet connection. In the case of emergency calls, the unit can automatically route them over a landline (provided the user maintains a landline subscription).

Always On Wireless will offer a VoIP calling service, called WiFlyer Phone Service, which allows users to choose a local phone number and make unlimited phone calls in the United States and Canada for $12.95 with a one-time activation fee of $29.95. The service also supports call waiting, caller ID, voicemail, call forwarding, three-way calling and call-back, among other features.

The device can also serve as a Wi-Fi bridge or access point.

The WiFlyer+v will ship in November for a suggested $149.95, or $59.95 with the activation of the WiFlyer Phone Service.
