Alpine Speakers On

6/28/2007 02:55:00 PM Eastern

Torrance, Calif. — Alpine said the two car speakers currently listed on are not authorized and that Alpine is not selling to Wal-Mart.

The car stereo specialty manufacturer said “Alpine has not entered into or contemplated a business relationship with Wal-Mart.”

An Alpine spokeswoman said the speakers appeared on the Wal-Mart Web site several days ago, but the company is confident the products will be removed from the site shortly. Alpine’s legal department is now trying to track down the unauthorized source of the products, she said.

An Alpine 6x9 coaxial two-way speaker at $54.86 and a 6.5-inch coaxial at $58.86 was listed on the site as “online only” and was also designated as “out of stock” this afternoon.

Wal-Mart’s media department said it would look into the matter.
