Alcatel Unveils New GSM Phones

Las Vegas — Distributor Cellatel of Irvine, Calif., launched Alcatel-branded phones more than a year ago in the United States and is coming to CTIA with at least four new GSM models.

One model, the OneTouch Sport, is an outdoor-focused candybar-style model with rubbery body, flashlight and one-month standby.

The bar-style multimedia OT-V770A is 0.4 inches thick and features reflective face, landscape color display and choice of glossy white or soft-touch black colors.

The clamshell OT-VV270A features reflective case for a “dark-chrome mirror effect,” the company said. The 0.47-inch-thick bar-style OT-V209A features customizable front panel.

The company has been targeting tier-two carriers, mobile phone retail outlets and MVNOs. The phones are produced by a joint venture established in mid-2005 between Alcatel and China’s TCL Communication Technology Holdings.
