Akimbo Announces Movielink Deal

Santa Monica, Calif. — Internet video-on-demand service Akimbo ( said it has reached an agreement through its relationship with Movielink to carry movies from top motion picture studios including MGM, Paramount, Universal and Warner Bros.

The new titles will be delivered to Akimbo subscribers’ homes through the RCA Akimbo Player set-top box, via the Movielink IP movie download service.

Movielink said it has programmed its video-on-demand (VOD) service specifically for the Akimbo player, highlighting a variety of popular movies currently available for VOD such as “V for Vendetta,” “Inside Man,” "Aeon Flux” and “Hannibal,” as well as family films like “Curious George.”

Movies in every genre are available to Akimbo users for rental prices ranging from 99 cents to $4.99.

The RCA Akimbo Player allows consumers to download thousands of videos and major motion pictures through a broadband Internet connection to watch later on TV.

More than 13,000 on-demand titles are available through the Akimbo Service to play on the RCA Akimbo Player, $199.99 through retail and online.

The RCA Akimbo Player features multi-speed fast forward and rewind and a fluid user interface. Akimbo subscribers can store up to 100 hours of programming on the RCA Akimbo Player and use Akimbo’s Queue and View feature to create a personalized on-demand library.
