a/d/s/ Extends Higher End HTS Lineup

Vista, Calif. — Speaker manufacturer a/d/s filled out its higher end HT series of enclosed and architectural products with a return to powered subs and the addition of in-ceiling speakers to the series.

Product manager John Durbin said the units are currently available, and added, ‘The HT powered subs and in-ceiling speaker models complete our higher end product family.’ The brand shipped HT series powered subs in the past but had no active SKUs in the category when Directed Electronics acquired the company in 2001. ‘The release of the HT subs marks our return to that category,’ he said.

The brand offered in-ceiling speakers for years in its Custom Series, but the series was used mainly for distributed-audio applications and less often for custom home theater, he said. ‘The addition of the HT in-ceiling models reflects a growing trend to use high performance in-ceiling product for rear or side surround drivers in custom home theater installations,’ he said.

The two two-way in-ceiling speakers, one a 6.5-inch model and the other an 8-inch model, retail for a suggested $200 and $250 each, respectively.

The two powered subs are 10- and 12-inch models, respectively, and retail for a suggested $1,100 and $1,200 each.

HT series enclosed speakers and in-wall speakers range in suggested retail from $600 to $1,000 per pair.
