Adobe Unveils Creative Suite 3

New York — Hailing it as the largest product launch in the company’s history, Adobe unveiled its Creative Suite 3 software, here, today.

The software will ship in six configurations with updated versions of the company’s creative software: Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium and Standard editions; Creative Suite 3 Web Premium and Standard editions; Creative Suite 3 Production Premium; and the Creative Suite Master Collection, which combines 12 new applications in a box for a suggested $2,499.

The majority of Adobe Creative Suite 3 editions will be available as universal applications for both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs and support Microsoft Windows XP and Vista. According to Adobe, users will experience increased levels of performance and speed running Creative Suite 3 natively on Intel-based Macintosh systems and the latest Windows hardware.

There are 13 stand-alone applications in all, including new versions of the company’s Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere Pro software.

Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium ($1,799) will include updated versions of InDesign, Photoshop Extended, Illustrator, Flash Professional, Dreamweaver and Acrobat 8. A Design Standard edition, for $1,199, does not include Flash and Dreamweaver and offers the standard Photoshop.

Available in April, Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium ($1,599) includes Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Fireworks, Contribute, Photoshop Extended, Illustrator and Acrobat 8 Professional.

Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Standard loses Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. It will retail for $999.

Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium for video pros includes Adobe After Effects Professional, Premiere Pro, Encore, Photoshop Extended, Illustrator, Flash Professional and Soundbooth. It will ship in the third quarter for $1,699.

The company also announced pricing on the two new stand-alone versions of Photoshop. Photoshop CS3 will retail for $649 while an “Extended” version, which adds 3-D, motion graphics, image measurement and analysis, will retail for $999.
