ADL Honors Morales, Bilas, Paull, Weedfald At Annual Dinner

New York — The Anti-Defamation League’s National Consumer Technology Industry division honored Denise Morales, David Bilas, Mitch Paull and Peter Weedfald during its annual dinner on Saturday evening at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, here.

Morales, executive VP/global sales and channel strategy for Beats By Dr. Dre, received the Torch of Liberty award from Tim McGeehan, CEO of Andrew Martin.

Bilas, executive VP of Nationwide Marketing Group, received the Patricia Rienzi Legacy Award from former GE Appliance chief Jim Campbell, who is now with Cerebus Capital. Bilas was surprised by his brother Jay Bilas, ESPN basketball broadcaster, on a video praising his brother. The broadcaster could not attend because he was on assignment overseas.

Paull, president of American Signature/Value City Furniture, received the S. David Feir Humanitarian Award from Jonathan Schottenstein of his company.

Weedfald, president of Gen One Ventures, received the American Heritage Award from his daughter Tara Weedfald, who made a heartfelt presentation about her dad’s charitable contributions over the years.

Also, Mike Vitelli, former Best Buy president, was honored by the division as he handed over his duties after a five-year stint as industry chair by his replacement, Fred Towns, president of New Age Electronics. Steve Smith, editor in chief of TWICE, was introduced as vice chair of the dinner starting in 2014, replacing Marcia Grand, former publisher of TWICE.

The dinner generated more than $500,000 in contributions to the ADL, making the   National Consumer Technology Industry division the largest industry group contributor to the organization.
