Aamp Buys Select Products

Clearwater, Fla. — Car stereo accessory maker Aamp of America said it acquired Select Distributors, known as Select Products, also an accessory maker, on Nov. 28 for an undisclosed sum.

Aamp called the purchase a natural fit as Aamp makes car kits and Select Products makes the fabrication accessories to help the kits “look nice” in the car, said a spokesman.

Select Products president Robert Garza and “his team” will continue at Aamp although Garza’s title has not been announced. They will move to Aamp headquarters, here, and Select Products will become an Aamp of America brand, joining such others as Stinger, iSimple and Peripheral.

An Aamp spokesman said that Garza’s strong reputation in dealer training was another reason for the acquisition as Aamp expects to intensify its dealer training over the next year.

Aamp CEO Ron Freeman said, “We couldn’t be happier about welcoming Robert Garza, the president of Select Products, and his team to Aamp of America. Robert is an icon in the industry, a bona fide guru when it comes to custom auto installations, and an excellent public speaker and trainer.”

Garza said of the two companies, “We’re now both in a better position to provide the products, training, services and support our customers need … I want current Select Products customers to know that this acquisition won’t change any of the things you’ve come to expect and enjoy about doing business with us. In fact, many of those things will only get better.”

Aamp of America is owned by Audax Private Equity, which invests over $2.4 billion of equity capital in control acquisitions of companies across a range of industries.
