phone in the U.S., but only the international quadband GSM/EDGE version is available in the country and only without a U.S. warranty. The device is available on Amazon.com and Exoticphone.com

Other high-megapixel phones available in the U.S. from Motorola and Nokia top out at 5 megapixels.

T-Mobile didn’t announce price or a precise availability date of the Memoir, but it did say the multimedia phone is a quadband GSM/EDGE world phone (850/900/1800/1900MHz) that also operates on T-Mobile’s 3G UMTS/HSDPA network in the 1700/2100MHz bands.

The camera phone features Xenon flash, 16x digital zoom, CMOS autofocus, and a full touchscreen on one side and a camera-like appearance on the other. Other features include full-touch virtual QWERTY keypad in landscape mode, Samsung’s widget-based TouchWiz user interface, and a photo widget lets consumers post images directly to such photo-sharing services as Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Photobucket and Snapfish. It also features single, continuous, panorama, smile shot and mosaic shooting modes.

Other features include music and video player, assisted GPS navigation, stereo Bluetooth, full HTML Web browser, included 1GB microSD card, proximity sensor, four instant-messaging services, POP3 email service and T-Mobile’s MyFaves service-plan option.

The 4.4-ounce device is 4.17 inches by 2.11 inches by 0.55 inches.
