3K Debuts $399 'Ultra-Mobile' PC

Boca Raton, Fla. — 3K Computers has unveiled its Longitude 400 Mini Notebook Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC).

The 400Mhz CPU laptop weighs less than 2 pounds and features a 7-inch LCD TFT display, a full-sized keyboard, three USB ports and an Ethernet 10/100 LAN port for a suggested retail of $399.

The device runs with the Linux operating system and is said to come equipped with an office suite featuring AbiWord, GNUMeric, an email client and a PDF reader. It is also said to include a software bundle featuring “games, schedulers, music players, movie players, planners and more.”

3K said the UMPC will be available late next month.
