San Jose, Calif. - Netgear latest upgrade of its ReadyNAS storage
line features TiVo compatibility.
The three-SKU ReadyNAS networked-attached storage drives can
stream HD content to any TiVo box in the house, the company said, alleviating
any storage limits of the TiVo device itself.
The ReadyNAS devices come in two-, four- and six-bay
configurations with each bay capable of holding a 2TB drive.
The six-bay ReadyNAS Ultra 6 can be purchased without any
included drives for $899 or with three 2TB drives for $1,349. The Ultra 4 is
$599 drive-less and $800 with two 2TB drives. These are now available for
pre-order from Amazon with shipment slated for mid July.
The Ultra 2 will ship in October; pricing and configuration were
not available.
The ReadyNAS comes with Skifta media-shifting software, which
Netgear said allows users to consolidate all their media on the servers and
shift them to any device using the network. This works in conjunction with the
included transcoding software that automatically formats and sizes streaming
video for mobile devices and browsers.
