Alpine Launches 3rd In-Dash 9-Inch Nav System

Torrance, Calif. — Alpine launched its third in-dash A/V navigation system with a 9-inch touchscreen display, the aftermarket’s largest in-dash display to date.

The $3,000-suggested X009-FD1 is designed for select Ford F-150 trucks and joins the recently shipped $3,000 X009-GM for select GM trucks and SUVs and the $2,700 X009U, which is intended for custom installation in a variety of trucks and SUVs.

The X009 series is targeted to truck and SUV owners with active lifestyles those who often depend on their vehicle for work, the company said.

The X009-FD1 is compatible with select 2009-2014 Ford F-150 models XL, STX, XLT, FX2, FX4 and SVT Raptor. It isn’t compatible with trucks featuring a 4.2-inch screen with MyFord features, the 8-inch touchscreen with MyFord Touch, or the factory navigation radio.

The X009-FD1 consists of the 9-inch A/V navigation head unit and a custom-designed key panel with back-it buttons designed for the Ford vehicles. Additional versions of the X009 AVN system packaged with external keys for additional Ford F-150 models will be introduced in 2015.

As with the other X009 head units, the latest model comes with an iDatalink Maestro module and Ford F-150 specific T-harness to retain many of the truck’s factory vehicle controls. They include voice-activated Sync media player, voice-activated Sync Bluetooth, steering-wheel controls, and premium audio amplifiers. Vehicle functions accessible from the head units via the Maestro module include tire-pressure display, battery voltage display, door status and user-selectable gauges.

The X009-FD1 features built-in HD Radio, Made for iPod/iPhone USB, Pandora control from an iPhone or Android smartphones, and SiriusXM Ready capability. It also features WVGA display and independent dual-zone capability to let drivers view a source in the dash while rear passengers watch a separate video on a rear-seat screen. An HDMI input allows for video playback from smartphones or other HDMI-equipped devices.
